The Alkaline Diet By Freelance Writer – Joellis
There are many diets out the persons who want to stay fit and healthy from Paleo diet to Atkins diet and the many super food diets but the Alkaline Diet rings through as one of the better diets for the body. What is the alkaline diet and how does it work?
The Alkaline Diet as the name suggests is a diet consisting of foods of mostly alkaline content. The diet consist of eating mostly alkaline foods throughout the day namely most fruits and vegetables, nuts, herbs and seeds as well as some legumes. The diet doesn’t consist only of alkaline food but is divided into an 80 to 20 percent ratio of alkaline to acidic foods. Foods that are considered acidic are meats, dairy, eggs, and fish as well as fast foods and processed foods.
The alkaline diet is beneficial to the body because it help to keep the blood as alkaline as possible which is better for the body to carry out day to day functions. When acidic foods are consumed the body releases alkaline rich minerals like magnesium and phosphorus to bring bloods pH level back to neutral or normal. The body stores these minerals from the alkaline foods consumed. If the diet does not have a lot of alkaline foods where these minerals are compounds of then the bod pulls for these minerals from healthy teeth and bones in the body. This isn’t very healthy because this can lead to fatigue, weakening of the immune system and leaves the body susceptible to contracting illnesses and infections. In essence an alkaline diet is like a stringent balanced meal, emphasizing more on foods from fruits and vegetables, nut, and legumes food groups and less on the other food groups. Eating an alkaline diet has been proven in studies to have a positive effect on chemotherapy treatment. The diet also boost the body’s energy and immune system which is vital in fighting off infections.
Some examples of meals or foods to eat when on an alkaline diet include oatmeal with low fat milk and fruit or a handful of nuts or a spinach, kale and lettuce salad with mix vegetables and garlic or even a piece of seared or roasted salmon with potatoes and parsley flakes. Other ways to help complement the diet are having foods like a cup of fruits or stalks of vegetables as snacks instead of high calorie, sweetened snacks like cake or ice cream. It is also helpful to cook with alkaline spices because it does cut down the acidity in acidic pH foods. Some alkaline spices are chili powder, curry, parsley, paprika and ginger. There are interesting ways to make the alkaline diet fun as well by infusing water. Infusing water is adding fruits, spices and vegetables to water to pull the antioxidants and minerals from the fruits into the water. This water is a great way to stay hydrated while providing great nutrients in its purest form directly into the blood stream. The other great benefit is that infused water or detox water as it is called, helps to shed excess fat ultimately leading to weight loss.
Here are some great recipe ideas from www.alkalinesisters.comthat incorporate alkaline foods into very delicious meals that are easy to prepare. Like the super powered smoothie that includes frozen fruit, coconut water and almond milk to start the day off right. Lunch recipes are also very simple and easy to do and while they may involve some acid-promoting foods, are controlled by the alkaline spices or sauces made to complement the acidic food, like Lemon Pesto Salmon.
The Alkaline diet is all natural, unprocessed foods that benefit the body by keeping it alkaline to perform its daily processed more efficiently. In addition to that the diet also provides the body with antioxidants, nutrients and minerals to fight infections and illnesses. It is a great diet for living a healthy lifestyle and fighting off illness, staying healthier in the flu seasons.

Pineal Diet - How To Get Started
Thanks to specific research in recent years, we are now becoming more aware of what is going on inside our bodies and one of these benefits has been the increase in awareness of the ‘pineal gland’. This gland, otherwise known as the ‘third eye’ or the ‘mind’s eye’, is relatively small and shaped like a pinecone, but its function is very important. As an endocrine gland, it secretes and produces melatonin which can be important for our overall health but mainly for our sleep.
As we grow older, the pineal gland will calcify which means that it will grow ‘sluggish’ and so the pineal gland diet, or simply ‘pineal diet’, aims to reduce this effect by cutting out fluoride as well as eating healthy fats, foods rich in iodine, coconut oil, cacao, and more. Ultimately, the idea is to consume a diet that is both preservative- and chemical-free whilst focusing on the foods that ‘de-calcify’.
How To Get Started
As with any diet, the hardest part is always getting started and getting used to the foods to make it last for a long time. Before we head into the main foods included, let’s take a look at three quick starting tips.
Stay Hydrated - Did you know that around 90% of us are constantly dehydrated? If you are dehydrated, you will feel physically and mentally drained so drinking water can be a great starting point for keeping a good mood.
Note: Fluoride is to be avoided on the pineal diet but there are water companies that produce bottled water without fluoride!
Pace Yourself - One of the biggest mistakes that people make when starting a diet is choosing to do it all at once; not only is this hard physically but also mentally too. Remember, you have been consuming your current diet for years now so your body needs time to adjust; why not gradually introduce the diet? This way, you will be more likely to stick to it in the future.
Start Today - The longer you put it off, the less likely you are to ever start; instead of putting it off ‘until Monday’, there is no better starting place than today.
So there we have three main tips to get over the hurdles at the beginning but what about the actual diet itself? Let’s take a look at three foods that will help you to achieve your goals.
Iodine - If we don’t feed our bodies iodine, it leaves room for fluoride which is what we are trying to remove. Therefore, we have to introduce it to our diet through foods like broccoli, seaweed, spinach, and even fish. If you don’t like any of these, you will also find supplements.
Apple Cider Vinegar - This ingredient is high in malic acid which works as a detoxifier by removing aluminium from the body; it has also been known to reduce blood pressure, balance glucose levels, and dissolve kidney stones.
Raw Cacao - As well as stimulating the third eye, raw cacao is also an antioxidant so will help to detoxify the pineal gland.
So there we have it, an introduction to the pineal gland and its relating diet; you now have three main tips and three foods/food groups to be getting on with. Getting used to the diet may take some hard work and determination, but it will all be worth it in the end!
I also found a visual guide to help follow and understand the how the diet works.
