Meditation to relax the little monkey minds
A drastic change is being observed in the kids nowadays. They are more aggressive, frustrated and stressed than we adults ever were when we were their age. They seem to have developed more anxiety and stress issues that it is safe for them. It is very important to teach these young minds ways that would help them relax. Some mechanism which would help calm them down, relax those aggressive natures and help them focus more on their positive energies than building up all the rage by giving too much attention to all the negative energies flowing inside their bodies. In order to help them achieve their full potential, it is important that they become aware of all their hidden talents, capabilities, and attributes and what better way to do that than to teach them to be mindful all the time. Meditation was considered to be something which was for adults only but not anymore. Here are some tips which would help you teach those impressionable minds to meditate.
Breathe and Notice
Since we are breathing all the time, it is only too obvious that you should use it as a starting point to teach your kids the power of meditation. Sit beside them and help them notice the way their body rises up and down as they breathe. Help them concentrate on the inhalation and exhalation pattern. The more they would notice, the more inclined they would be to concentrate and focus more on things.
Do Not Force It On Them
While you are teaching them, don’t force them to do something they don’t want to do. The need to meditate should come from within. Let their minds focus and prepare for this fruitful journey in their own time. Compulsion is going to defeat the whole purpose of the exercise. Relax and let them enjoy as they learn. They have ample time to do it right once they are ready to give themselves in.
Make it fun
The biggest gift the kids are blessed with is their imagination. While you sit with them to teach them a thing or two about imagination, try to break out of your comfort zone and take a stroll through the fields of your imagination. Don’t forget to take the kids along with you. The more fun it is, the more they would want to do it again. The purpose is to make them habitual of meditating. Use whatever tactics you have to prepare them for it.
Don’t just sit there to teach it all out to them. Instead, sit beside them and show them how it is done so that the little minds are not intimidated and can feel assured while you do what they are doing as well. It will help build upon that bond as well.
So before you hire the services of some expert to teach them meditation, start by teaching them the basics of it yourself. Let them take their time and be patient while you watch those tiny eyes understand what meditation is all about.
I also found a guided meditation for children that I found that you can use to introduce to your children.
